Marshal’s Development Fund Supports Hospital Investments
The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Development Fund (KPDF) will finance important modernization and development projects through preferential loans for the Dr. Biziel University Hospital in Bydgoszcz, the Wimed Non-Public Healthcare Centre in Lipno, and the Nowy Szpital hospital network in Nakło and Szubin. The agreement signing ceremony was attended by Marshal Piotr Całbecki, President of the Regional Parliament Elżbieta Piniewska, and KPDF President Kamila Radziecka.
“Today’s agreements are an investment in the health of the region’s residents. The preferential loans from the Marshal’s Kujawsko-Pomorskie Development Fund, largely redeemable, will enable the implementation of projects involving ward modernization and the development of top-level medical services,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
“There are documents that are read in a very formal way, signed, and then placed on a shelf. But there are also documents like these which, although written in formal language, are fascinating because behind them lies what matters most — the sense of safety and the health of residents,” said Elżbieta Piniewska.
The Biziel Hospital has received a loan of PLN 6.1 million (with the total investment valued at PLN 6.6 million) for the comprehensive modernization of the obstetrics and pregnancy pathology division at the Clinic of Obstetrics, Women’s Diseases, and Gynecologic Oncology. The investment is necessary to meet current perinatal care standards.
“We will use the funds to improve conditions for mothers and newborns after childbirth,” said Dr. Agnieszka Rogalska, director of Dr. J. Biziel University Hospital No. 2 in Bydgoszcz. “The obstetrics and pregnancy pathology division still operates within outdated infrastructure — the hospital was built in the 1980s. The main goal is to improve sanitary conditions.”
The investment is scheduled for completion in September 2027.
The Wimed project concerns the expansion of the Long-Term Care Facility operating within the institution in Suradówek, Lipno County.
“This involves constructing a new single-story wing dedicated to a 24-hour palliative care ward and equipping it appropriately. The new section will accommodate 30 patients,” said Jolanta Wiśniewska, manager of the facility in Suradówek.
The investment is valued at PLN 5.7 million, with the loan amounting to PLN 5 million. Completion is planned for later this year.
The Nowy Szpital hospital network in Nakło and Szubin is beginning a comprehensive modernization of the internal medicine ward at its Szubin facility. The KPDF loan amounts to PLN 5 million, while the total value of the investment is PLN 5.7 million. The project is scheduled for completion in September this year.
