Consultations on the Regional Development Strategy in Tuchola County
Marshal Piotr Całbecki visited Tuchola and Tuchola County on Monday (13 July), where he met with local government officials and representatives of local communities. The meetings were held as part of the work on updating the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Development Strategy 2030+. They were also attended by Regional Parliament Councillors Tadeusz Pogoda and Jarosław Katulski, as well as Members of Parliament from the Region: Iwona Karolewska, Agnieszka Kłopotek and Iwona Kozłowska.
“This visit provided an opportunity to listen to the voices of local communities in this part of the region – their needs and aspirations. The regional development strategy, whose provisions will directly or indirectly shape the development policies of every municipality in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region and affect us all, must reflect local expectations. I would like to thank everyone for the constructive meetings and valuable contributions. I am pleased to work with such professional, committed and responsible partners,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The principles and timetable for preparing the regional development strategy through 2035, adopted by the Regional Parliament in February, formally concern a new strategic document. In practice, however, the work involves updating the strategy currently in force. Such an update is essential because a development strategy is a living document that must be regularly evaluated, its assumptions verified against current economic and social conditions, and its provisions revised and refined. The Regional Executive Board is responsible for preparing the draft assumptions, conducting public consultations and developing the final version of the strategy, which is scheduled to be submitted to the Regional Parliament by March 2027 at the latest.
During Monday’s visit to Tuchola County, the Marshal also toured several local projects and institutions, including the new MRI unit at the Tuchola District Hospital, a day-care centre for dependent senior citizens operated by the Catholic parish in Rudzki Most, the Tuchola Forest Museum, the school-based mini astronomical observatory in Gostycyn (located within the town’s well-maintained primary school complex), the newly constructed roundabout on Regional Road No. 237 in Gostycyn, the newly built Community Initiatives Centre in Osie, as well as local heritage sites and the future location of a water rescue station in Tleń.
The Tuchola District Hospital received PLN 16 million from the Marshal’s Kujawsko-Pomorskie Development Fund in the form of a preferential loan to establish the MRI unit and an endoscopy unit, purchase medical equipment and modernise the admissions department. The new roundabout in Gostycyn, costing PLN 4.5 million, forms part of a broader investment programme on Regional Road No. 237, which also included the reconstruction of four road sections: Gostycyn – Łyskowo (5 km, PLN 8.4 million), Kamienica – Pruszcz (3 km, PLN 4.3 million), Pruszcz (0.8 km, PLN 1.8 million), and Mąkowarsko – Pruszcz (4 km, PLN 7.9 million).
The newly completed Community Initiatives Centre in Osie was financed under the regional programme European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze, receiving EU funding of PLN 3.1 million. The construction of the water rescue station and accompanying infrastructure in Tleń is also supported through the programme, with EU funding amounting to PLN 3.7 million. The funding agreement for this project was officially presented during the meeting in Tuchola.
Early in the afternoon, Marshal Piotr Całbecki met with village heads (sołtysi) from Tuchola County. During the meeting, they received official badges symbolising their office. The regional authorities intend for all village heads across the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region to receive and wear these badges in the future. The event took place in the themed heritage village known as the “Mining Village” (Wioska Górnicza) in Piła.
