After two months of summer holidays, a quarter of a million students in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region began the new school year on Tuesday (1 September). Marshal Piotr Całbecki attended the official opening ceremony at the School and Kindergarten Complex in Bądkowo (Aleksandrów County). Regional celebrations were also attended by President of the Regional Parliament Elżbieta Piniewska and Member of the Regional Executive Board Marek Wojtkowski.

“May your everyday school life leave room for ambition, but also for kindness towards your classmates; for hard work, but also for enjoyment; for independence, but also for knowing when to ask for help. Make the most of this year, so that in June you can proudly say: this time was well spent,” Marshal Piotr Całbecki wrote in his letter to students and teachers.

President of the Regional Parliament Elżbieta Piniewska attended the regional opening ceremony at the Rev. Jan Twardowski Primary School in Przyłęki (Bydgoszcz County) and at the Adam Mickiewicz No. 3 Secondary School in Bydgoszcz. Member of the Regional Executive Board Marek Wojtkowski attended the opening ceremony at the Chemical Schools Complex in Włocławek.

For years, the regional self-government has consistently supported students and teachers through scholarship programmes, educational projects and awards for achievements in education.

We have allocated PLN 130 million from our regional European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze programme (FEdKP) for preschool infrastructure and early childhood education; PLN 200 million for vocational education and infrastructure in vocational schools; PLN 200 million for general education; and PLN 44 million for improving the accessibility of educational institutions and sports facilities.

FEdKP 2021-2027 education agreements

This year, the regional government is allocating nearly PLN 240 million to tasks related to education and schooling.

Every year, students from all types of schools can receive Marshal’s scholarships of up to PLN 5,000 per year. The combined budget of the three student scholarship projects exceeds PLN 7 million. Two of them – The Primates of the Kujawy and Pomorze II and Vocational Talents of Kujawy and Pomorze – receive funding from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027, while the The Primates of the Kujawy and Pomorze Plus programme is financed from the regional budget.

We also invite students and teachers to take advantage of the wide range of educational services offered by regional institutions. These include medical and social schools in Toruń and Inowrocław, pedagogical libraries in Bydgoszcz and Toruń, as well as special education and care centres and special schools in Bydgoszcz, Toruń and Ciechocinek.
