Main Arlekinada Award for the Próg Theatre from Wadowice

We met the winners of the 23rd edition of the National Festival of Small Theatre Forms Arlekinada during a gala ceremony held on Saturday (March 28) at the Municipal Theatre in Inowrocław. The awards were presented by Elżbieta Pniewska, President of the Regional Parliament, who also serves as the festival’s artistic director. The event was held under the patronage of Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

“Theatre has become your passion and a space for expressing values and shaping sensitivity. I congratulate the winners on their success, and I wish the other young theatre enthusiasts every success in developing their acting skills,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

“Twenty-three years of organizing this festival have convinced me that it is an important event in Poland, and also significant for Inowrocław and its residents. Arlekinada is above all about young, passionate people who have appeared across many places on the artistic map of the region and the country. The goal I set for myself two decades ago has been achieved,” said Elżbieta Piniewska, President of the Regional Parliament.

The Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Award, presented by Piotr Całbecki, and the festival’s first prize went to the Próg Theatre from the Wadowice Cultural Centre for the play “A Double Voice of Silence”, directed by Bartosz Nowakowski.

The winners were also congratulated by Member of the European Parliament Krzysztof Brejza and MP Magdalena Łośko.

Festival Results

During the 23rd National Festival of Small Theatre Forms Arlekinada, eight performances and monodramas prepared by theatres and actors from across Poland were presented.

The young actors were evaluated by a jury consisting of:

Ilona Ostrowska – film, television, and theatre actress
Łukasz Wudarski – Director of the Regional Centre for Cultural Animation in Toruń
Łukasz Maciejewski – film and theatre critic

The festival concluded with a performance by the band Lemon Trio featuring Igor Herbut.

The originator and initiator of the theatrical competition is Elżbieta Piniewska, President of the Regional Parliament. The event was organized by the City of Inowrocław, the Kujawy Cultural Centre, and the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Regional Self-Government.
