Competition for Goose-Themed Reports – A Shared History Around the Festive Table

We invite you to take part in a competition for reports on celebrating Poland’s National Independence Day together over a festive meal featuring goose. Entries will be accepted until 26 November. Families, Rural Housewives’ Associations and, for the first time, Volunteer Fire Brigade units are welcome to participate.

– I invite you to share your family and local traditions through reports featuring goose dishes. Your memories are part of our regional identity. Let 11 November bring us together not only through our shared history, but also around a special festive table – says Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Piotr Całbecki, encouraging everyone to take part in the competition.

The task is not as easy as it may seem, as participants surprise us every year with their creative approaches, submitting increasingly imaginative entries. In previous editions, we have received professionally edited videos, albums, games and lapbooks, among other submissions.

To enter the competition, participants must submit a report documenting their National Independence Day celebrations on 11 November, featuring a shared meal with a goose dish. Each participant may submit only one entry. Every submission must include a recipe for a goose dish. Participants are also required to attach a completed participation declaration, available as an appendix to the competition rules.

Competition rules (in Polish)

The competition is organised in two categories:

  • General category – for adults who have not previously received a prize or distinction in earlier editions of the competition.
  • Rural Housewives’ Associations and Volunteer Fire Brigade units.

Entries may be submitted from 12 to 26 November. The date on which the organiser receives the submission will determine whether it meets the deadline.

– Email submissions must be sent by midnight on 26 November to gesina@kujawsko-pomorskie.pl, with the subject line “Gęsina – konkurs na relacje”. Videos should be submitted via the WeTransfer file-sharing platform (wetransfer.com).

– Postal submissions should be sent to:

Marshal’s Office of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region
Plac Teatralny 2, Room 219
87-100 Toruń, Poland

Please mark the envelope “Gęsina – konkurs na relacje”.

The winners will be contacted by telephone. As in previous years, we plan to hold an official awards ceremony at the Marshal’s Office in Toruń.
