New Cycle Path Opens in Brodnica County
Marshal Piotr Całbecki today (30 October) attended the official opening of a 2.5-kilometre cycle path in Ciche. The new route runs alongside the county road connecting Zbiczno, Rytebłota and Ciche. The ceremony was also attended by Senator Ryszard Bober, Regional Assembly Councillor Paweł Zgórzyński and local government representatives.
“Brodnica County has much to offer cycling enthusiasts. New routes make it easier to discover its natural and tourist attractions and, above all, ensure greater safety for cyclists,” emphasised Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The new cycle path runs alongside county road No. 1805C. The investment, worth more than PLN 3 million, included the construction of a 2.5-metre-wide path with an asphalt surface, reconstruction of the bridge over the Cichówka watercourse, construction of access points, road shoulders and culverts, installation of new lighting, and reinforcement of embankments using openwork concrete slabs.
The project was carried out by Przedsiębiorstwo Drogowo-Budowlane, a road construction company based in Brodnica.
The investment was made possible thanks to funding from the European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie 2021–2027 regional programme. The EU grant amounted to PLN 1.5 million.
Earlier this week, another EU-co-financed cycle path was opened in Brodnica County – a route of nearly one kilometre in Drużyny.
The Kujawsko-Pomorskie regional government remains committed to developing modern and safe cycling infrastructure throughout the region. Under the current EU financial framework, the European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie 2021–2027 programme has so far provided local governments with nearly PLN 220 million for this purpose. Plans include the construction and modernisation of more than 200 kilometres of cycle paths.
