Carbon Monoxide Detectors for Seniors from Mogilno County

Marshal Piotr Całbecki handed over another batch of carbon monoxide detectors purchased by the regional self-government today (27 October). The devices were delivered to the residents of the “Radość Życia” (Joy of Life) day care center in Mogilno County. The meeting was also attended by Elżbieta Piniewska, President of the Regional Parliament, and Dariusz Kurzawa, Member of the Regional Executive Board.

“It is hard to believe how many homes are still not equipped with such devices. The danger is not limited to the heating season alone- gas water heaters operate year-round. Safety is our priority, which is why we are distributing more carbon monoxide detectors that can save health and lives. Let us trust these devices, but at the same time, let us remain vigilant ourselves and remember to perform regular system inspections,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The project is long-term in nature. The purchase of detectors will continue under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021–2027 program. A total of 20,000 devices will be handed over to individuals in need of support in daily functioning (due to age, health condition, or disability) who occupy premises equipped with potential carbon monoxide sources, including boilers, stoves, fireplaces, or gas water heaters. The distribution of the detectors will be carried out by project partners – municipalities of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region that submitted requests based on the diagnosed needs of their residents.

The Day Care Center in Mogilno is one of over 80 modern facilities established with the support of the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 program. It offers places for elderly, sick, and disabled individuals requiring support in daily life. Participants benefit from qualified staff care, therapeutic and activating activities (e.g., drama, arts, and music), integration events, psychological support, and transport services.
