PLN 6 Million for Sports Infrastructure
Residents of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region will soon benefit from new facilities for sport and recreation. This year, the regional self-government is allocating nearly PLN 6 million to expand local sports infrastructure. Grant agreements were presented today to representatives of municipalities, towns and counties by Marshal Piotr Całbecki, Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska and Vice-President of the Regional Parliament Katarzyna Lubańska. The ceremony took place at the Municipal Stadium in Aleksandrów Kujawski.
“These relatively small projects make a tremendous difference to local communities. They create spaces that encourage people to be active and spend time together,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “This is an investment in residents’ health, because sport is one of the best forms of prevention. Our goal is to create modern, accessible facilities wherever they can best serve local communities.”
Under this year’s Kujawsko-Pomorskie Small Sports Infrastructure Programme, a total of nearly PLN 6 million will be distributed to 75 local government authorities. Grants ranging from PLN 20,000 to PLN 100,000 will support the construction of sports fields and outdoor gyms, the purchase of street workout equipment, the modernisation of existing sports facilities, and the development of other publicly accessible recreation areas.
Among the projects receiving funding are: the modernisation of a tennis court in Grudziądz, the expansion of the skate park in Inowrocław, the construction of a canoe polo pitch in Chełmża (Toruń County), the creation of a sports and recreation area in Stary Jasiniec (Bydgoszcz County) and the construction of an outdoor gym at School Complex No. 1 in Rypin.
The regional self-government also provides regular support to athletes and helps finance sporting events. This year, more than 400 athletes, coaches and sports activists from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region have been recognised with awards from the Regional Self-Government Executive Board and scholarships funded by the Marshal’s Office.
