Funding for Good Initiatives: Support for Families

Sixteen non-governmental organisations selected through the regional grant competitions will implement family support projects on behalf of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Self-Government, including initiatives aimed at families with special needs. A total of PLN 400,000 has been allocated for this purpose.

“We believe that civil society organisations specialising in specific areas can achieve results with these funds that public administration simply could not. They have excellent ideas, an in-depth understanding of the communities they support, and their staff and volunteers often come from those communities themselves. Many years of cooperation have shown that this approach works,” said Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region.

The grants awarded under two family support competitions will finance, among other initiatives parenting skills workshops, educational and support programmes for parents, support groups for families raising children with special educational needs, workshops designed to strengthen family relationships and promote quality time together and the development of a family counselling network.

Individual grants range from PLN 7,000 to PLN 92,500. The largest grant – PLN 92,500 – has been awarded to the Diocesan Adoption and Family Support Centre in Toruń to organise and maintain a psychological counselling service for parents and children. The programme will be available to families throughout the region. The Nie-Zwykła dla Rodziny Foundation has received PLN 30,000 to deliver parenting skills training and educational support for parents of children with special educational needs. The Parents for Children – Good Education Foundation has been awarded PLN 19,000 for a project aimed primarily at fathers who may feel uncertain in their parenting role amid changing social expectations and evolving concepts of masculinity and fatherhood. The programme includes a survival camp where fathers and children can strengthen their relationships through shared experiences.
