Invest in Yourself. Millions of Złotys Available for Training and Skills Development

Representatives of public institutions, academia and business responsible for labour market policies and solutions met today (11 June) in Toruń to discuss the challenges and future directions of the modern labour market. Among the support instruments presented was the regional self-government’s “Direction – Development” project, which offers subsidised courses, training programmes and postgraduate studies. The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Regional Self-Government was represented by Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski.

“We want the residents of our region to have the best possible opportunities for professional development. The ‘Direction – Development’ project, through which we will support 13,500 people, is a chance to gain new skills and improve one’s position on the labour market. If you want to develop your competences and increase your chances of securing a good job, I encourage you to take part,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Programme details and the recruitment schedule are available at: zainwestujwsiebie.pl.

The project is intended for adults who:

  • live, study or work in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region;
  • do not operate a business and do not have a suspended business activity;
  • are not sole shareholders of a limited liability company and are not partners in a civil partnership.

Participants may receive funding for training programmes selected from the Development Services Database (Baza Usług Rozwojowych), maintained by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP). The maximum value of support is PLN 6,400, with participants covering only 10 per cent of the cost of the selected service.

To date, 16 recruitment rounds have been launched, attracting more than 7,000 participants. The schedule also includes dedicated calls for residents of rural areas and towns with fewer than 100,000 inhabitants, as well as for people with disabilities and those aged over 50.

Commissioned by the regional self-government, the project is being implemented by the Regional Labour Office in Toruń. The initiative is worth more than PLN 120 million, including over PLN 105 million from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 programme.

The challenges and future directions of the modern economy and labour market were also discussed during today’s conference (11 June) at Hotel Filmar, attended by representatives of the public sector, institutions, academia and business. Member of the Regional Executive Board Marek Wojtkowski took part in the meeting.
