Join Us for the Region’s Celebration Events
From 5 to 14 June, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region will come alive with music, outstanding art, engaging science-popularization events, meetings with inspiring guests, and sports activities organized as part of the Voivodeship Celebration festivities. The first highlights – the Balloon Fiesta, Astrofestival, and concerts by popular Polish artists in Toruń and Włocławek – begin next week. The main official event, the ceremonial session of the Regional Assembly, will take place on 8 June in Włocławek.
– We have prepared a special program of carefully selected events for all residents of the region and our guests, where everyone will find something for themselves. Culture? Excellent! A family picnic? You are welcome! Science outreach or perhaps sport? We have that too! Join us! – encourages Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
Astro Fun
We begin the celebrations with science and family entertainment – on 5 June, Bydgoszcz will host the Astrofestival, an astronomical science picnic packed with attractions for children and adults alike. The venue is Mill Island and the Rother’s Mills complex. Starting at 5:00 PM, participants will explore the most fascinating mysteries of the cosmos through rocket-building workshops, art activities, and animations. Visitors will also have the opportunity to observe the stars through the largest telescope in Poland.
The following day, the Astrofestival arrives in Copernicus’ City. On 6 June (3:00 PM–7:00 PM, Wola Zamkowa, Plac Teatralny 2), Astrobaza Toruń will provide excitement for participants of all ages. Attractions for children and adults include planetary flight simulators, a city game with prizes, science and art workshops, inflatable space shuttles, and cosmic refreshments.
Star Concerts
The traditional highlight of the celebrations will once again be the open-air concerts featuring some of Poland’s biggest music stars. Audiences are invited to Toruń, Włocławek, Grudziądz, Bydgoszcz, and Inowrocław during the first and second weekends of June. In the Year of Cinema People from Kujawy and Pomorze, we will pay musical tribute to regional filmmakers and creators of film music.
The first of the audience-favorite musical and visual spectacles will take place on 6 June in Toruń. The event begins at 8:30 PM at Plac Cyrkowy in the Rubinkowo district. During “Under the Common Sky,” audiences will embark on musical journeys accompanied by Grzegorz Hyży, Mela Koteluk, Kayah, Viki Gabor, Ralph Kaminski, Natalia Muianga, Natalia Nykiel, and Fokus x Rahim.
One day later (7 June, Marshal Piłsudski Boulevards, 6:00 PM), the residents of Włocławek can expect exceptional musical emotions. The concert “Faience Dreams” will feature performances by Ania Dąbrowska, Andrzej Piaseczny, Grzegorz Hyży, Kayah, Piotr Rogucki, Reni Jusis, Tede, and Tomasz Organek.
The following weekend in June will bring as many as three concerts. On 13 June at 8:00 PM, the beloved “Cinema Island” returns to Bydgoszcz. In the charming scenery of Mill Island, the stage will welcome Fukaj, Kacperczyk, Kasia Lins, Natalia Kukulska, Natalia Przybysz, Rafał Szatan, Renata Przemyk, and Sound’N’Grace.
Also on Saturday, 13 June at 7:00 PM, Grudziądz will host the extraordinary musical spectacle “Harbor of Freedom.” On the picturesque Vistula Boulevards, against the backdrop of the setting sun, audiences will enjoy performances by Michał Szpak, Ewelina Flinta, Modelki, Natalia Nykiel, Viki Gabor, Natasza, Margaret, and Sebastian Fabijański.
The concert concluding the musical marathon will be “On Salt” in Inowrocław. On 14 June at 6:00 PM, residents and tourists will enjoy performances by Kamil Bednarek, Ewelina Lisowska, Tomasz Organek, Piotr Rogucki, Mariusz Lubomski, Ania Dąbrowska, Sławek Uniatowski, and Tatiana Okupnik.
Classical Concerts and Balloons in the Sky
A permanent musical highlight of the program is the annual “Staff of Freedom” concert (2 June at the Artus Court in Toruń), featuring students and teachers from regional music schools.
The “Seasons with the Master” project, organized by the Pomeranian Philharmonic and featuring the Capella Bydgostiensis Chamber Orchestra under the direction of acclaimed violinist Maria Sławek, is aimed at young violinists from across Poland. The program includes workshops (8–9 June) and a final concert on 10 June at the Artus Court in Toruń.
The Region Celebration would also be unimaginable without the Balloon Fiesta. From 5 to 7 June, keep an eye on the skies for colorful hot-air balloons. Morning and evening flights, crew competitions, and a ceremonial parade through the city will create an unforgettable spectacle. Following Saturday’s “Under the Common Sky” concert, a special night show is also planned above Plac Cyrkowy – the perfect finale to the evening.
