More than four hundred athletes, coaches and sports officials from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region have been honoured with scholarships and awards from the regional board for achievements earned last year. Today (15 May), Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska met with the athletes at Browar B in Włocławek. The total value of the support granted amounts to nearly PLN 2.5 million.

“Stress, sweat, long hours of training, successes and failures — this is your everyday reality. Behind every sporting achievement stand not only the athletes themselves, but also coaches, officials and enthusiasts who support you every day, help you recover from difficult moments and motivate you to keep working,” stressed Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska in her speech. “Proper infrastructure and the support of local governments, which create the best possible conditions for training and sports development, are also of enormous importance. Looking today at the number of scholarship recipients and the amount of funding allocated to sport, we can say that together we are doing this homework well. Thank you for another year of effort, sporting emotions, and moments of pride and emotion that we experience when the Polish national anthem, ‘Mazurek Dąbrowskiego’, is played. I am pleased that together we can celebrate the success of sport in Kujawsko-Pomorskie.”

Sports awards and scholarships in numbers:

• the total prize fund amounted to PLN 756,000
• awards were granted to 264 athletes, 102 coaches, 21 sports officials, and 11 participants of the XXV Winter Olympic Games Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, the XIV Winter Paralympic Games Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics, and the XXV Summer Deaflympics 2025 Summer Deaflympics
• this year’s sports scholarship fund totals PLN 1.689 million
• scholarships were awarded to 173 athletes representing 32 clubs

Marshal’s scholarships for top athletes

The regional government consistently supports athletes, co-finances the modernisation and expansion of sports infrastructure in the region, and helps organise sporting events.

In 2025 alone, nearly PLN 7 million was allocated for the construction of publicly accessible activity zones and school gymnasiums. See: Record-breaking grants for sports infrastructure

Nearly PLN 8 million will also go to sports clubs in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region as part of this year’s edition of the ministerial programme “Klub Pro 2026”. See: Millions for sports clubs in the region

In March, Kujawsko-Pomorskie  Region hosted the World Indoor Athletics Championships, which World Athletics declared the best indoor world championships in history.
