Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region’s Pola Negri Film Award
Established in 2022, the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region’s Pola Negri Film Award commemorates the silent film legend born in Lipno. The award is presented to filmmakers and artists – from emerging talents to internationally acclaimed creators – whose work and achievements are of particular significance to Polish cinema. Recipients include actors, directors, cinematographers, and film music composers.
The award’s patron was one of the first European women – and the only Polish actress – to achieve the status of a major Hollywood star. Her extraordinary career, spanning roles in Polish, German, and American films, made her a symbol of talent, courage, and artistic independence.

The Pola Negri Award draws on the rich cinematic traditions of Kujawy and Pomorze – a region open to artists and new ideas. Presented annually during film festivals held in Kujawy Pomorze, it is an expression of recognition for those who shape audiences’ sensibilities, inspire future generations, and contribute to the development of Polish cinema.
The award statuette was designed by Zbigniew Mikielewicz, an artist from Toruń and a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University. The creator and designer of numerous sculptures and monuments, he was awarded the Medal Thorunium in 2010 and, in 2025, received the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region’s Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement.
