Film Picnic in Toruń This Saturday
Set design, editing, and dubbing workshops, as well as screenings in a spherical cinema—these are just some of the attractions planned for Saturday’s picnic at the Marshal’s Office in Toruń.
The picnic will have a film theme, as the regional assembly has declared 2026 the “Year of Film People from Kujawy and Pomorze.” The celebration is an opportunity to mark numerous milestone anniversaries related to figures who have made their mark on Polish cinema, including the 130th anniversary of the birth of the famous actress Pola Negri.
On Saturday, the interiors of the Marshal’s Office will be transformed into a small film studio. The program includes editing, dubbing, and animation workshops. Participants will have the chance to try their hand at creating a set design model, working with a camera, and designing film posters. Attendees will also get a closer look at the life of the legendary Pola Negri—a silent film star born in Lipno, the first European actress to conquer Hollywood, admired by Charlie Chaplin and Rudolph Valentino. Visitors will also be able to watch spectacular screenings in a spherical cinema. There will be plenty of attractions for children as well, including face painting, temporary tattoos, cotton candy, and popcorn.
