Premiere of “Murder at the Philharmonic,” filmed in Bydgoszcz, on April 8

The crime film by Maciej Hydr was created in the monumental interiors of the Pomeranian Philharmonic. Supported by the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Film Fund, the film will premiere on April 8, 2026, at the Jordanki Cultural and Congress Centre in Toruń. A press briefing is scheduled for 6:00 PM, the screening at 7:00 PM, followed by a panel discussion with the actors at around 9:00 PM.

“Murder at the Philharmonic” is a proposal for fans of crime cinema who enjoy classic detective mysteries. A key element is the elegant world of classical music and the space of the philharmonic hall. A place associated with harmony and art becomes the scene of a crime.

The story is set in the 1970s. Preparations are underway for a prestigious concert at a renowned philharmonic hall. The event is expected to attract distinguished guests and outstanding artists. A mysterious murder of a member of the musical community takes place. Everyone present—the conductor, musicians, and organizers—becomes a suspect. The detective leading the investigation uncovers a complex web of relationships, ambitions, and hidden conflicts, revealing jealousy, rivalry, and old grudges.

To build the film’s atmosphere, the director makes use of the philharmonic’s space. Skillful shots of monumental concert halls, backstage areas, and corridors create tension and a sense of isolation among the characters. The sound layer plays a crucial role. Classical music is not merely a background element but an integral part of the narrative. Individual pieces highlight the characters’ emotions and the dynamics of the investigation.

The main roles are played by Aleksandra Hamkało, Jarosław Boberek, and Piotr Głowacki. The film is directed and written by Maciej Hydr. It was shot at the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz, Polish Radio PiK, and Kazimierz Wielki Park. Supporting and minor roles are also played by residents of Bydgoszcz selected through casting.
