The first medal of the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 2026 for Team Poland is here! A bronze medal was won by the mixed relay team consisting of Kajetan Duszyński, Anna Gryc, Marcin Karolewski, and Justyna Święty-Ersetic.

Poland’s top hurdlers Jakub Szymański and Damian Czykier confidently advanced to the semifinals, while Ewa Swoboda easily secured her place in the 60 meters semifinal. Detailed results are available on the World Athletics website.

The mixed relay medal race was extremely intense. The Polish team stayed close to the leaders throughout all laps and initially crossed the finish line in fourth place. However, after the disqualification of the Jamaican team, which had finished ahead of them, Poland moved up to third place and claimed the bronze medal. Belgium won the race, with Spain finishing second.

Unfortunately, Magdalena Stefanowicz did not advance to the 60 meters semifinals. Anna Wielgosz was eliminated from medal contention in the 800 meters. Maciej Wyderka narrowly missed qualification in the same event, and Filip Ostrowski also exited the competition. In the high jump, Mateusz Kołodziejski finished seventh.

The afternoon session promises top-level excitement. Six years after setting his first world record here in Toruń, Armand Duplantis returns to the city. Since then, the dominant “Mondo” has broken the world record 15 times—most recently just nine days ago in Uppsala. The pole vault final begins at 18:25.

Close to breaking the world record in the heptathlon is Simon Ehammer. The final event (1000 meters) starts at 18:52.
