World Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26: first medals awarded and heats completed (photos)

The Friday morning session (March 20) of the World Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 featured the first medal contests and qualification rounds for the next stages. The afternoon session promises to be exciting — an impeccable Natalia Bukowiecka advanced to the 400m semifinals, while in the 60m semifinals we will see the in-form Oliwer Wdowik and Dominik Kopeć. In the final meters of the 800m race, Anna Wielgosz secured qualification for the semifinals, which will take place on Saturday at 12:22. In the men’s 800m semifinals on Saturday at 13:08, we will also see Filip Ostrowski and Maciej Wyderka.

A fierce battle for medals took place in the women’s high jump. The competition ended with three silver medals awarded — to Australia’s Nicola Olyslagers, Serbia’s Angelina Topić, and Ukraine’s Yuliia Levchenko (all clearing 1.99 m). The gold medal went to the outstanding Yaroslava Mahuchikh (2.01 m). Poland’s Maria Żodzik finished fifth (1.93 m).
