Bypasses to Improve Safety and Traffic Flow in the Region

We are continuing our regional bypass construction program. This year, we will complete work in Mogilno. Ahead of us are tenders for the construction of bypasses in Trląg (Inowrocław County) and Brodnica. We will also apply for Road Investment Permits (ZRID) necessary for the construction of bypasses in Sępólno Krajeńskie, Więcbork (Sępólno County), and Tuchola. The program has also been expanded to include a project to designate a new corridor for the region road in the Lubicz area (Toruń County).

“Our bypass construction program is a necessary complement to the ongoing modernization of region roads. In towns and localities where it is not possible to widen the roadway in a way that ensures adequate safety and traffic flow without generating additional noise, we build bypasses that redirect burdensome transit traffic away from densely built-up residential areas,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Mogilno – Winter Break

The largest construction site is currently in Mogilno, where the second section of the town’s bypass is being built. The contractor has completed 70 percent of the planned works. Before winter, it was possible to finish concreting the beams and reinforcement placed across all seven spans of the viaduct. At the beginning of March, work will resume on the viaduct edge beams, and construction of the road base and installation of curbs will begin.

In the second half of the year, after load tests and final inspections, the route will be opened to traffic. Construction works are being carried out by Strabag. The investment, with a total value exceeding PLN 86 million, is co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 program.

Upcoming Projects: Trląg and Brodnica

A tender for the Trląg bypass will be announced soon. The investment includes the construction of a bypass on the western side of the locality. In addition, existing sections of Region Road No. 255 connecting to the bypass will be rebuilt. Works will cover a total length of more than 3 km (from the junction with the new roundabout in Broniewice to the cemetery in Trląg). This project is planned to be co-financed under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027.

At the end of last year, we also obtained a building permit for the eastern bypass of Brodnica, which will eliminate transit traffic from the town center. The new 3.6 km route will run along the railway tracks from Warszawskie Roundabout to Lidzbarska Street. It will include seven new roundabout intersections. The central islands will be equipped with passages for oversized vehicles.

The bypass will feature illuminated pedestrian crossings and bicycle crossings. The project also includes the construction of noise barriers, new sidewalks, and cycle paths. The tender for this task is planned for mid-year. The investment will be financed, among other sources, by government funding obtained by the Marshal’s Office.

Applying for Permits: Sępólno Krajeńskie, Więcbork and Tuchola

Applications for Road Investment Permits (ZRID) are planned for three additional bypasses:

  • Sępólno Krajeńskie (between National Road No. 25 and the village of Grochowiec),
  • Tuchola,
  • Więcbork together with Witunia (Sępólno County).

Design work is being finalized for all these projects.

Advanced Concept Work

This year, we will also continue work aimed at determining optimal corridors for several other bypasses and obtaining the necessary decisions to proceed to the design phase. At the beginning of the year, we added a project to the program that will designate a new region road corridor in the Lubicz area, improving connections between Toruń and Lubicz and indirectly via National Road No. 10 or directly via Region Road No. 569 toward Golub-Dobrzyń. The most advantageous corridor will be selected based on analyses.

  • Rypin – environmental decision to be obtained soon
  • Chełmża – consultations completed, concept work underway, environmental decision in progress
  • Golub-Dobrzyń – consultations completed, concept work underway, environmental decision in progress
  • Radzyń Chełmiński – public consultations completed, concept work underway, environmental decision in progress
  • Lisewo – preparations for additional design work
  • Białe Błota – repeated tender for the technical, economic and environmental feasibility study
  • Łysomice – tender for corridor study in cooperation with other road authorities
  • Lubicz – tender for corridor study underway
