A Modern Education Center to Be Built in Włocławek
An interactive educational space, research laboratories, a conference hall, and a glass-roofed courtyard with a café will be created within three years in the former Jewish hospital in Włocławek as part of the StodólnaLAB project. The project is being implemented by the Marshal’s Office – affiliated Kujawsko-Pomorskie Academy of Innovation (KPAI), which has announced a tender for the preparation of comprehensive design documentation, scheduled for completion in the autumn.
“Our goal is to create a place that, on the one hand, nurtures the cultural identity of Włocławek, and on the other stimulates the development of future skills and innovative education. We are also building the Energy Mill – an educational centre in Grudziądz – and preparing for the construction of another one in Inowrocław. I am convinced that these places will be frequently visited by the residents of our region,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The heart of the center, which will be established in a neoclassical hospital building, will be an interactive educational space combining the history and heritage of the region with modern technologies. KPAI plans to create unique thematic zones referring to the achievements of scientists originating from Włocławek.
The institution will be located in the building at 70 Stodólna Street, which was transferred to the regional government by the Włocławek County Office in the autumn of last year.
Before the end of the year, the future contractor will prepare the design and obtain all permits required to begin the investment. At that time, the estimated value of the project will also be known. In the first half of next year, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Academy of Innovation will announce a tender for the construction contractor of the Włocławek center. Another tender will then be announced for equipping the educational facility.
The investment will be largely financed by the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze (FEdKP), which the Academy plans to apply for at the beginning of 2027.
The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Academy of Innovation creates modern spaces for culture, education, and science popularization in Grudziądz (Energy Mill) and Inowrocław (InoLAB).
KPAI employs and pays teacher-coordinators in the Copernicus Astrobases throughout the region, implementing a coherent educational program for primary and secondary school students. The Academy’s newest project is the Kujawsko-Pomorskie School Under Sail.
