Best wishes to all Grandmothers and Grandfathers!

On the occasion of Grandmother’s Day celebrated today (21 January) and Grandfather’s Day tomorrow (22 January), Marshal Piotr Całbecki visited the Day Care Home in Biskupice, Toruń County, where seniors from the Łubianka municipality spend their time in an engaging way. The Biskupice centre is one of 111 such places in our region, where every day 6,000 elderly ladies and gentlemen can count on support, companionship and activating activities.

Each such home offers a safe and dignified way to spend time, individually tailored nursing and care services, at least two meals a day, rehabilitation activities improving fitness, therapeutic art, music and movement classes, as well as support in dealing with difficult life situations and everyday matters of older people. PLN 406 million is the value of support from our regional programme – the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze (FEdKP) – granted to municipalities, social cooperatives and non-governmental organisations that run such facilities.

This offer is complemented by senior clubs, which provide sports activities, handicraft workshops, foreign language learning, integration meetings, excursions and trips to cinemas and theatres. PLN 85 million is the total value of FEdKP grants that reach senior club organizers through local action groups.

“Because in Kujawsko-Pomorskie we remember our oldest residents all year round!” emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “Best wishes to all Grandmothers and Grandfathers!”
