Free Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors – A Regional Government Initiative
At the initiative of Marshal Piotr Całbecki, a campaign is being launched to increase the safety of the region’s residents during the heating season. As part of this effort, we will purchase and distribute free smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors to residents.
– The safety of our residents is our priority. The goal of this campaign is not only to provide people with devices that often save health and lives, but also to raise awareness of risks and encourage residents to take care of safety in their homes – especially during the heating season, when the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and fires increases – emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The first stage of the initiative is to determine how many households need detectors. For this purpose, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Self-Government Association Salutaris, acting on behalf of the regional self-government, has contacted municipal authorities – who have data on heating sources in all buildings within their areas – asking them to assess the demand for detectors. Once this information is received, we will immediately proceed with purchasing the devices and, as soon as possible, distribute them to residents through the municipalities.
Volunteer firefighters from volunteer fire brigades across the region have also joined the campaign.
The project beneficiary is the Regional Centre for Sustainable Development in Przysiek. The activities will be carried out with the support of the Department of Safety and Building Social Resilience of the Marshal’s Office, the Department for the Implementation of European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze, and the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Self-Government Association Salutaris.
