Two hundred items will be auctioned during the 14th edition of the Marshal’s Charity Ball, which will take place this Saturday (17 January) at the Jordanki Cultural and Congress Centre in Toruń. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to three main beneficiaries: the Serce Torunia Association, the Trisomiaki Foundation from Łochowo, and the Special Educational Centre from Włocławek. Details of the event were presented at today’s (8 January) meeting with media representatives by Marshal Piotr Całbecki and his wife, Dagna Całbecka.

“The organizations and individuals we support deserve recognition and gratitude for their commitment and daily hard work for the benefit of others. The Marshal’s Charity Ball is an occasion for enjoyment, but above all for helping those in need. I am convinced that our guests will generously support the beneficiaries,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

“In this initiative, the most important are the people we do not see on a daily basis, who devote a great deal of heart and effort to their activities and to helping others,” emphasized Dagna Całbecka.

Representatives of this year’s beneficiaries were also present at the meeting: President Michał Piszczek and Sylwia Łukasiak from the Serce Torunia Association, as well as President Renata Stankiewicz, Małgorzata Badowska, Justyna Golacik, and beneficiaries from the Trisomiaki Foundation.

Main Beneficiaries of the 14th Marshal’s Charity Ball

• Serce Torunia Association – provides assistance to people experiencing homelessness
• Trisomiaki Foundation – supports 40 people with disabilities and their families through therapy, rehabilitation, and assistance in everyday functioning
• Special Educational Centre of the Congregation of the Little Missionaries of Charity in Włocławek – provides care for young people requiring special education

Traditionally, funds raised during the Ball will also be allocated to beneficiaries from previous years and to international missions. For the first time, support will be extended to the Polish Foundation for Africa, which assists children in Madagascar.

Guests of this year’s Marshal’s Charity Ball will include actresses Katarzyna Figura and Ewa Kasprzyk, while the musical setting will be provided by Kuba Badach and, as tradition dictates, the Eljazz Band.

Among the auctioned items – works of art, jewelry, film props, and books signed by their authors – will be, among others: a day on the film set of director Wojciech Smarzowski, a painting from the set of the film “Chopin, Chopin”, a porcelain donkey designed by director Jerzy Skolimowski, paintings by Jerzy Edgar Pilla, and a photograph with an autograph of astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski. For several years now, works created by participants of the Marshal’s art competition have also been auctioned during the Ball. In 2024, the competition entry titled “Goose in Space” was auctioned for PLN 20,000.

Last year’s 13th edition of the Ball was also exceptional due to the generosity of participants, who auctioned a painting by Julian Fałat for PLN 220,000, a Murano glass sculpture for PLN 120,000, and one of the surprise items (“a pig in a poke,” which turned out to be a cube of butter) for PLN 30,000.

Over the course of the thirteen editions held to date, a total of PLN 4 million has been raised, supporting twenty beneficiaries.
