A Green Avenue Created Along a Road in Aleksandrów County
We have planted 440 trees along regional road No. 266, which connects Aleksandrów County with the A1 motorway. This is another project implemented under the Marshal’s programme for restoring roadside tree avenues. In spring, we will plant tree rows along three more regional roads.
“Restoring green avenues is carried out with the aim of compensating for losses to ecosystems that accompany various investments. Trees are a natural form of environmental protection – they shield against wind and erosion, provide shelter for insects and birds, and help maintain soil fertility. This planting programme is an example of combining the development of road infrastructure with care for nature and the heritage of our region. We are working to ensure that additional regional roads take on a green character in the spring. A total of PLN 18 million has been allocated for this purpose,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
Along regional road No. 266 between Ciechocinek and Zakrzewo, we planted 440 trees – small-leaved lindens, Norway maples, sycamore maples, and black locusts. The work was carried out by Henryk Hinca Nursery Farm from Dobrzyca in Wielkopolskie Region. The PLN 1.3 million project included site preparation, delivery of large saplings, planting, maintenance (fertilisation and watering), and the creation of retention basins. Funding of PLN 1.1 million came from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027.
Agrotechnical treatments were also carried out on 455 existing trees (crown shaping, corrective pruning, removal of mistletoe, dry branches, and suckers).
Previously, new trees were planted, among other places, along Regional Road No. 553 (Toruń – Wybcz) in Toruń County. At the beginning of next year, we will announce a tender for planting trees along additional modernised regional roads. Rows of trees and shrubs will be planted, among others:
- along regional road No. 251 (Żnin and Inowrocław counties)
- along regional road No. 551 (Chełmno and Toruń counties)
- along regional road No. 550 (Chełmno County)
We are also working on the documentation necessary for planting trees along further sections of regional roads:
- along regional road No. 553 (Toruń County)
- along regional road No. 557 (Lipno and Rypin counties)
- along regional road No. 240 (Świecie and Tuchola counties)
- along regional road No. 543 (Grudziądz, Wąbrzeźno, and Brodnica counties)
Record Spending on Roads
PLN 2 billion will be allocated in the coming years to the regional programme for the modernisation of regional roads. Under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 (FEdKP 2021-2027) – our regional programme for the new financial perspective – we are allocating EUR 136 million for road investments, including, among others, our regional bypass construction programme. Some tasks related to the expansion of road infrastructure will also be financed with central government funds obtained (approximately PLN 170 million for bypasses and around PLN 450 million for the expansion of other roads).
