INFORMATION PORTAL OF THE MARSHAL'S OFFICE OF THE KUJAWSKO-POMORSKIE Region IN TORUŃ

Marshal Piotr Całbecki and Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski are taking part in today’s (17 December) meeting of the Presidium of the Regional Social Dialogue Council (WRDS). The rotating chairmanship of this statutorily established regional dialogue institution – appointed, among other things, to help resolve conflict situations significant for maintaining social order – is currently held by the government side. The new Chair of the body is Voivode Michał Sztybel.

During today’s meeting, the Presidium reviewed the Council’s activities over the concluding year, during which the work of the WRDS was led on behalf of the employers’ side by Roman Rogalski, President of the Lewiatan Confederation of Employers. In that period, the WRDS held six plenary sessions, three Presidium meetings, and four meetings of thematic working groups. Topics addressed included, among others, the labor market situation in the region, government investments of strategic economic importance, the development of Bydgoszcz Airport, and the use of regional loan funds as instruments to stimulate economic growth. Among the fourteen documents adopted this year were positions concerning the challenges faced by Qemetica Soda Polska – a key local employer – the situation of the Military Aviation Works in Bydgoszcz, and the resumption of design and construction work related to strategically important gas storage facilities located in the region.

The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Social Dialogue Council (KPWRDS), operating for 10 years, like its 15 counterparts in other Polish regions, includes representatives of local government, the Voivode as a representative of the government side, as well as representatives of trade unions and employers’ organizations. The Council’s mission includes, among other things, issuing opinions on strategic documents and considering conflict situations between employees and employers that are important for maintaining social peace.
