Exea Cyber Academy Launches
Exea Data Center, a technology company owned by the regional self-government, and Nicolaus Copernicus University are launching a paid internship program in the field of cybersecurity. The program enables participants to gain hands-on experience in protecting the digital infrastructure of public administration, banks, hospitals, and enterprises. The agreement was signed today (9 December) in the presence of Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski by Exea President Magdalena Mike and NCU Rector Prof. Andrzej Tretyn.
“This is an important and highly practical initiative. As we all know, protecting IT systems, data, and digital resources from unauthorized access, attacks, or destruction is becoming an increasingly serious challenge. The number of digital incidents is growing rapidly, and so is the demand for cybersecurity specialists. At the Exea Cyber Academy, students will work with real data, tools, and security procedures, participate in monitoring and identifying threats, and take part in response operations. They will learn from top-class experts how such tasks are carried out in practice, under real-world conditions rather than in a training simulation. I am pleased that we will be doing this in our region and that, in this way, we will develop specialists in this critical field,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki, the patron of the initiative.
“Exea Cyber Academy is a response to a real skills gap in the area of cybersecurity—one of the fastest-growing yet most understaffed specializations on the job market,” said Exea Data Center President Magdalena Mike.
Recruitment for the Cyber Academy has been designed as a series of challenge-based games. Instead of a standard application form, candidates will complete a sequence of tasks followed by workshops featuring a simulated cyberattack that will test knowledge, assess analytical thinking, the ability to respond quickly to situations, and teamwork skills. Earlier, as part of the project’s promotion, Exea specialists will meet with students from selected faculties of the Toruń university. The best candidates will be selected to begin the internship.
Exea Data Center, affiliated with the regional self-government, is one of the most technologically advanced digital data processing and protection centers in Poland. It is the only facility of its kind in the country holding the international TIER III certification, guaranteeing the highest level of reliability. The company supports IT infrastructure for public institutions, hospitals, banks, and hosting companies nationwide, providing, among other services, a stable and secure environment for cloud services and digital support. Its clients include the National Health Fund, the National Research Institute NASK (Scientific and Academic Computer Network), Nicolaus Bank, one of Poland’s largest IT companies Comarch, the pharmaceutical company Biofarm, the rail operator Arriva, and the Camerimage film festival.
