Nine individual awards and three team awards were presented today to the winners of our competition, which recognizes and promotes the most interesting and valuable initiatives in the field of social assistance, as well as dedicated employees and volunteers of support institutions and aid organizations. The gala, held today (8 December) at the Dąmbski Palace, was attended by Marshal Piotr Całbecki, Chair of the Regional Parliament Elżbieta Piniewska, and Regional Councillor Ewa Kozanecka. “Empathy, attentiveness, professionalism, commitment—this is how social assistance must operate, and this is how the people who support others during life crises should act,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “I would like to thank the award recipients for their contribution to the efficient functioning of the support system and for their empathy toward those it serves.”

This year’s recipients of the Steel Angel statuette include social activists, employees of social assistance institutions, individuals associated with third-sector support organizations, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Jopp, who run a family children’s home in Bydgoszcz. Candidates could be nominated by laureates of previous editions of the competition, as well as by government administration bodies, social assistance institutions, non-governmental organizations, and churches and religious associations active in the field of social assistance.
