The Energy of Inowrocław – A New Space for Culture and Innovation

Inowrocław will soon gain a modern center for culture, education, and social activity. An architectural competition has been announced for the design of the Marshal’s Office’s new Center for Culture and Education “Energy of Inowrocław”, to be built on Unii Europejskiej Street. This marks one of the key stages in preparing for the implementation of this new regional government investment.

The Energy of Inowrocław will be a place that connects the town’s spa traditions with modern culture and education. We want to create a space that will be attractive for residents, patients, and tourists — one that will be important for the entire region,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

A Center Full of Energy – What Will Be Built?

  • 1,000–1,200 m² of exhibition space
  • a modern permanent exhibition
  • workshop and educational rooms
  • interactive zones
  • technical facilities and modern infrastructure solutions

The building’s total floor area will be approx. 2,800 m². The program was developed based on consultations with cultural institutions, the educational community, and former employees of the local salt mine — to best respond to the needs of the local community.

A Site Ready for Development

A number of preparatory steps have already been completed:

  • geotechnical surveys
  • preparation of the transfer of the municipal plot to the regional authorities
  • a recommendation from the Association of Polish Architects (SARP), confirming that all procedures comply with the highest standards

The design and implementation of the project are overseen by the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Center for Education and Innovation (KPCEI), an institution responsible for creating modern spaces for culture, education, and science outreach across the region.

Architectural Competition – The Race for Ideas Begins

The competition, recommended by the Association of Polish Architects, will run until spring 2026. The best architects and studios from across the country are invited to participate. The jury — composed of experts in architecture, urban planning, and representatives of regional authorities — will evaluate, among other criteria:

  • architectural appeal and coherence
  • functionality and modernity of the proposed solutions
  • how well the design reflects the character of Inowrocław

The winning concept will serve as the basis for preparing construction documentation and carrying out the investment.

A Regional Network of Modern Institutions

KPCEI, a unit of the Marshal’s Office, manages the Center for Astronomical Education and the network of Copernicus Astrobases, coordinates the development of the Mill of Energy in Grudziądz, oversees the creation of Energy of Włocławek, and leads the revitalization of the palace complex in Wieniec. Energy of Inowrocław will be another important element of this regional network.
