The voice of young people matters – 3rd Congress of Youth Councils of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region

The 3rd Congress of Youth Councils of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region is taking place today in Solec Kujawski – a forum dedicated to the activity of young people engaged in public life, bringing together leaders, representatives of local governments, NGOs, and experts from across the region. The event is attended by the Chairwoman of the Regional Assembly, Elżbieta Piniewska.

 

Participants are discussing the role of young people in decision-making processes, their impact on local public policies, and practical ways of acting within local government. The event’s program includes expert panels, workshops, networking, and training in diplomacy, communication, and youth safety. This year’s edition sends a clear message – the voice of young people matters.

 

The congress opened with the panel “A council (not) for young people?”, featuring the Chairwoman of the Regional Assembly Elżbieta Piniewska, the Dean of the Faculty of Political and Security Sciences at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Dr. Bartłomiej Michalak, the Ombudsperson for Children Monika Horna-Cieślak, and the Chair of the Youth Council to the President of Poland, Mikołaj Sobański-Jóźwiak. At the same time, workshops are being held on topics such as diplomatic protocol, establishing youth councils, and public communication. The event is also attended by regional councillor Ewa Kozanecka and MP Iwona Karolewska.

 

The program also includes a panel with members of parliament: “Do we hear young people, or do we listen to young people?”, devoted to the influence of youth on lawmaking. The discussion features Łukasz Schreiber, Magdalena Łośko, and Marcin Skonieczka.

 

The event is held under the patronage of the Chairwoman of the Regional Assembly, Elżbieta Piniewska, and the Mayor of Solec Kujawski, Adam Michalak, and is co-organized by the Faculty of Political and Security Sciences of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
