2025 Geese for St. Martin’s Day!

The contests organized by local media have concluded, and on Saturday, October 25, the winners will receive their prizes — 2,025 goose carcasses funded by Marshal Piotr Całbecki. The geese will be distributed among residents of 20 towns across the region, continuing the delicious tradition of celebrating together and enjoying a family table filled with Kujawy specialties.

“In Kujawsko-Pomorskie, we’ve created a beautiful tradition — celebrating Independence Day with family, gathered around the table, enjoying goose dishes. I’m sure we’ll honor this day with joy and pride — savoring our Kujawsko-Pomorskie goose,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Local and regional media outlets organized contests in which participants could win goose carcasses from Kołuda Wielka (Inowrocław County), famous for the highest-quality Kujawsko-Pomorskie goose meat. A total of 27 editorial teams — from newspapers, radio and TV stations, and online portals — took part in the campaign. Through quizzes and contests, residents could win geese that will be distributed to the winners on Saturday, October 25, at collection points located in:

Contests and Family Attractions

The Marshal’s Office is also organizing its own goose-themed contests. For children, a “Sporty Goose” art contest will be announced, offering attractive prizes such as art kits, books, board games, building sets, and shopping vouchers for older participants.

Another upcoming event will be a competition for the best story or photo series showing how families and rural women’s associations (Koła Gospodyń Wiejskich) celebrate National Independence Day together over goose dishes.

Goose Festival – the Grand Finale

The entire initiative will culminate in the Goose Festival, featuring tastings, a fair of regional products and handicrafts, concerts, contests with prizes, and the announcement of the Golden Half-Goose Award (Złoty Półgęsek) — honoring the region’s best goose producers.
