Under the codename Samorząd 2025, a training exercise for regional services responsible for ensuring citizens’ safety in emergency situations is taking place today (October 2) in Włocławek. The most spectacular part of the exercise is a demonstration of the skills of the water rescue services.

“The situation on our eastern border and the related international tensions mean that we must be prepared for all eventualities. I am pleased that our services, as well as the teams designated within our institutions, are rising to the challenge,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The training, organized by the Department of Security and Building Social Resilience at the Marshal’s Office, involves representatives of the regional self-government administration and the Salutaris local government association, the crisis management team of the Regional Road Authority, a representation of the 8th Kujawsko-Pomorskie Brigade of Territorial Defense, as well as the management staff of provincial organizational units. The conference part of the training is taking place at the Academic School Complex in Włocławek, while the demonstration part, during which rescue services showcase their skills and modern equipment, is held near the water stage on the Vistula River.

During the demonstrations at the dam, with the participation of lifeguards from the Volunteer Water Rescue Service, as well as police officers and the State Fire Service, operations using drones and IT support are presented. The hypothetical crisis scenario involves a potential threat to the functioning of the dam and the need to locate and rescue sailors whose boat was overturned on Lake Włocławek by a high wave.
