Meeting of the European Corps of Councillors in Nakło

Nakło nad Notecią is the venue for today’s (24 September) third meeting of the European Corps of Councillors (EKR) this year, during which representatives of all levels of local government in Kujawsko-Pomorskie visited investments in the city that were made possible thanks to European Union aid, including our regional programmes for 2014-2020 and 2021-2027.

EKR members met today with representatives of the Nakło municipal government and the management of the Local Action Group Partnership for Krajna and Pałuki. They listened to a lecture on how to finance projects supporting the oldest and youngest residents of the region, and watched a presentation on the activities of the Social Services Centre in Nakło. They visited, among others, the Nakło Cultural Centre, the amphitheatre, the market centre, the stadium and the ice rink financed by the Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020, European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027, the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 and government funds.

The previous meeting of EKR delegates took place in May, and the next one in December.

The European Corps of Councillors, which was established two years ago on the initiative of Marshal Piotr Całbecki, based on a similar solution in Normandy, France, is the only such body in Poland. This latest initiative within the framework of the Local Government Forum of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region is a platform for cooperation, exchange of experiences and promotion of good practices in the field of local and regional development, with particular emphasis on EU development support. The delegates were appointed by the councils of municipalities, towns and counties in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region. The EKR’s term of office, which began in February, will last until 2029.
