On the 86th anniversary of the Soviet Russia’s invasion of Poland

Yesterday (September 17), throughout the voivodeship, commemorations were held marking the 86th anniversary of the Soviet Russia’s invasion of Poland and the Day of the Sybirak.

 

The ceremonies in Bydgoszcz began with a Holy Mass in the cathedral. After the service, a patriotic ceremony took place at the Old Market Square. The regional government was represented by Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski.

 

The program of events in Toruń included the 6th Exile Run in Barbarka and a generations’ meeting (September 17), as well as a Holy Mass at the Church of Christ the King and ceremonies at the monument located on the grounds of the 6th Secondary School named after the Siberian Exiles (September 19). The organizer was the Board of the Toruń Branch of the Association of the Sybiraks.

 

In Inowrocław, ceremonies were held at the Monument to the Defenders of Inowrocław, preceded by a service at the Church of St. Barbara and St. Maurice.

 

Residents of Włocławek also paid tribute to the victims. A patriotic ceremony was held at the Monument to the Home Army Soldiers in Władysław Łokietek Park.
