Today (15 September), Marshal Piotr Całbecki opened the events of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Day at the Expo 2025 World Exhibition in Osaka. Our region is presenting itself to the Japanese and millions of visitors to the exhibition as a modern community with strong identity roots.

“As a community rooted in historical and cultural heritage, yet boldly looking to the future, it is capable of experimenting and speaking the language of contemporary creative languages. Importantly, individual segments of our presentation programme stem from specific places on the map of the region – Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Włocławek, Grudziądz, Inowrocław, Pałuki,” emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Our day in Osaka is the culmination of our region’s week (11-17 September), which is held under the slogan ‘Copernicus (Remix)’. We combine art with science, fashion with technology, tradition with pop culture. Our presentation tells the story of the great Nicolaus Copernicus, the forgotten creator of digital technology Jan Czochralski, our design tradition, regional cuisine, Gothic Toruń and contemporary musical Bydgoszcz. We have built it from animations, promotional films, culinary and music workshops, the world of computer games, and concerts. The stars are musicians Steve Nash and Mariusz Lubomski, chef Artur Moroz, and Zbroja Czochralskiego’s fashion with motifs of Pałuki handicrafts and technological elements.

Today, the guests of the Polish pavilion at Expo Osaka also include Katarzyna Lubańska, Vice-President of the Regional Parliament, and regional councillors Jarosław Katulski, Jacek Gajewski and Marek Gralik.

On Saturday, at the invitation of World Athletics, our delegation participated in the opening ceremony of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. Ahead of the Kujawy-Pomorze 2026 World Indoor Championships (20-22 March 2026), Marshal Piotr Całbecki and his entourage were guests of the Polish Athletics Association.
