Welcoming a new rotation of American troops

Today (August 22), Marshal Piotr Całbecki hosted more than one hundred American soldiers – representatives of the 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery Regiment, and the Division Artillery Headquarters of the 1st Armored Division. This marks the arrival of a new rotation of U.S. forces stationed at the training ground in Toruń.

The 5th Field Artillery Regiment’s 1st Battalion (1-5 FA) is a unit with exceptionally rich traditions – the oldest continuously serving formation in the United States Armed Forces. It was established in New York, and its first commander was Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. In his honor, the battalion bears the nickname Hamilton’s Own. The unit is currently based at Fort Riley, Kansas. It is worth noting that the soldiers of 1-5 FA are training at the Toruń training ground for the third time.
