It’s happening on the roads in the Golub-Dobrzyń district

Reconstruction of another section of provincial road No. 554 between Sierakowo and Kowalewo Pomorskie in the Golub-Dobrzyń County has begun.
In Golub-Dobrzyń, at the intersection of provincial road No. 534 with the local road to Sokołowo, a roundabout is being built. Several important sidewalks will also be renovated. This year, 20 million PLN will be allocated for road modernization and investments in Golub-Dobrzyń County.

“We are keeping up a good pace of work, and the secured pool of funds allows us to commission further repairs. Our priority is the safety of all road users, which is why we not only modernize roads and build bicycle paths, but also implement a program to equip provincial routes with illuminated pedestrian crossings and bus stops. This is our response to residents’ expectations,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Smooth roads and hardened shoulders

At the beginning of July, modernization began on a 4-kilometer section of provincial road No. 554 from Sierakowo to Kowalewo Pomorskie (from the intersection with road No. 649 to national road No. 15).

The works, worth almost 7 million PLN, are being carried out by Zakład Drogowo-Budowlany from Rogowo in Toruń County.

The investment includes, among other things:

  • resurfacing the roadway (milling and laying three new layers)
  • restoring shoulders
  • adjusting existing intersections and driveways
  • restoring roadside ditches
  • renovating bus stops
  • restoring horizontal road markings
  • replacing vertical signage and guideposts

The work is scheduled to be completed this year. After acceptance, the route will be covered by a 5-year warranty.

A similar scope of work has previously been commissioned on provincial road No. 569 on a 3-kilometer section between Małszyce and Łążyn on the border with Toruń County. The works, worth 6.3 million PLN, are being carried out by Strabag. Completion and acceptance are planned for September. Previously, neighboring sections of this road towards Dobrzejewice and in Małszyce were reconstructed.

Both projects are financed from the regional budget.

Even sidewalks and additional greenery

In addition, on the important road connecting, among others, Kowalewo Pomorskie and Golub-Dobrzyń, we have also commissioned the renovation of sidewalks in the villages of Frydrychowo and Napole, as well as along Lipnowska Street in Golub-Dobrzyń.

In cooperation with the city of Golub-Dobrzyń, we plan to develop the area between the carriageway of provincial road No. 554 (PTTK Street) and Zamkowa Street at the foot of the castle hill. This is part of the road corridor in the representative part of the city.

The project is carried out under the Road Local Government Initiative in cooperation with the Golub-Dobrzyń municipal government, which took on, among other things, preparation of project documentation and co-financing of the works.

The scope of work includes:

  • reconstruction of sidewalks
  • construction of new stairs and spaces for benches
  • installation of additional street lighting
  • landscaping with greenery

Tendering procedures to select contractors for these tasks are currently underway.

Roundabout nearing completion

Works on building the roundabout in Golub-Dobrzyń are also coming to an end. The contractor is already laying the final surface layers. Paving works and landscaping of the adjacent area are in progress.

The three-entry roundabout, 26 meters in diameter, connects provincial road No. 534 (Piłsudskiego Street and Szosa Rypińska) with the district road to Sokołowo (Sokołowska Street).

As part of the project, sidewalks, drainage, and electrical and telecommunication networks were rebuilt. On the northern side along the provincial road, a pedestrian and bicycle path has been built. The northern side of the roundabout island has been cut to allow passage of oversized vehicles.

The construction works, worth 3.9 million PLN, are being carried out by PRD Lipno. Acceptance is planned after the summer holidays. The investment is being implemented in cooperation with Golub-Dobrzyń County and the municipality of Golub-Dobrzyń, which co-financed the preparation of project documentation.

When settling the project, we also plan to use funds obtained from the European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie for 2021–2027.

Illuminated crossings and work on the bypass

This year, on provincial road No. 534 connecting, among others, Grudziądz, Wąbrzeźno, Golub-Dobrzyń, and Rypin, we are planning further investments to improve safety. Along the entire route, 37 pedestrian crossings and 3 bus stops will be illuminated. Work on the design is currently being finalized.

We are also working on the documentation necessary to build the Golub-Dobrzyń bypass. In spring last year, we completed the third round of public consultations with residents. We are currently in the process of obtaining an environmental decision. The main section of the route is to bypass the city from the north.

Record road spending

The provincial road modernization program for the coming years will receive 2 billion PLN. Under the European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie 2021–2027, we are allocating 136 million EUR for road investments, including our regional bypass construction program.

For some infrastructure expansion tasks, we will also use central co-financing obtained (about 170 million PLN for bypasses and about 450 million PLN for expansion of other roads).

Currently, the most important road investments on provincial roads include, among others:

  • modernization of provincial road No. 268 from Brzezie to Brześć Kujawski in Włocławek County
  • modernization of provincial road No. 563 from Rypin to the provincial border in Rypin County
  • construction of the Mogilno bypass along provincial road No. 254 in Mogilno County
