Toruń – Ciechocinek by rail already in December

In order to meet the needs of residents and the expectations of spa guests, the regional government is restoring regular rail connections to our most famous health resort this year. The Aleksandrów Kujawski – Ciechocinek railway line, which is currently undergoing extensive modernisation, will have at least eight trains running daily from December, six of which will connect Ciechocinek directly with Toruń. The agreement was signed by Marshal Piotr Całbecki, Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska and, on behalf of the carrier, Polregio, President Krzysztof Pietrzykowski and Vice-President Wojciech Dinges.

We are consistently increasing and improving the quality of passenger rail transport in the province, adapting it to the needs of residents. I am convinced that this connection will not only contribute to the development of the Ciechocinek health resort, but also, by connecting Ciechocinek and Toruń, two important tourist centres, to the development of the region,” emphasised Marshal Piotr Całbecki in his speech before signing the document.

We can also announce today that the management board of PKP SA [the company managing railway properties] has allocated PLN 15 million for the renovation of the railway station in Ciechocinek. A temporary station will appear there in December, and next year this [historic] station will be beautified,” said Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska, who is responsible for passenger rail transport in the regional government, during the signing ceremony.

Thank you for choosing our offer. This is another tender we have won. It is also a commitment we are making to travellers to offer them the best possible railway service. We will make every effort to fulfil this commitment,” said Krzysztof Pietrzykowski, president of Polregio, in Toruń. According to the agreement that has just been signed, this company will operate the line to Ciechocinek for the next five years (2025-2030). The contract is worth PLN 32 million.

The signing ceremony was also attended by the president of the regional parliament, Elżbieta Piniewska, regional councillors Sławomir Kopyść and Józef Łyczak, the mayor of Ciechocinek, Jarosław Jucewicz, the mayor of the Aleksandrów Kujawski commune, Andrzej Olszewski, the deputy starost representing the Aleksandrów district, Małgorzata Wdowczyk, and the deputy mayor representing the local government of Aleksandrów Kujawski, Tomasz Kozłowski.
