Summer Nights with the Perseids – Astrobases Invite You!
Summer nights will once again shine with thousands of shooting stars. The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Astrobaza Kopernik network invites everyone to join the annual observation of the Perseids – one of the most spectacular astronomical events of the summer.
“For years, we’ve been combining modern forms of science popularization with the rich astronomical traditions of our region. I wish you fruitful observations!” – says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
This year’s “We Observe the Perseids” astronomy picnics will begin on August 8 in Zławieś Wielka, with further gatherings scheduled at our astrobases until August 24. Participants can look forward not only to unforgettable views of the night sky but also to meetings with astronomy enthusiasts and the opportunity to observe planets, the Moon, and constellations through professional telescopes.
The most spectacular Perseid nights fall between August 11th and 14th – during this period, you may see dozens of meteors per hour.

Astrobaza Kopernik – Over 15 Years Under the Stars
The Astrobaza Kopernik network consists of thirteen observatories, where classes are led by teachers, amateur astronomers, and professional scientists. The program has been operating for more than fifteen years. In March this year, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Education Centre, which coordinates the network’s activities, signed an agreement with the Polish Astronomical Society, enhancing the competencies of astrobase facilitators and enabling participation in international projects. The regional government recently allocated PLN 1.5 million to maintain observatory infrastructure.
More information, updates, and contact details for coordinators are available on the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Centre for Education and Innovation website in Toruń.
