Tuchola Bypass: Project Work and Consultations with Residents

Advanced work is underway on the Tuchola bypass project. On Tuesday (July 29), an informational meeting for residents took place with the participation of the road design team, during which the detailed route was presented. The new ten-kilometer road, whose route was agreed upon during public consultations, will redirect truck traffic away from the city center.

Design work began after obtaining the environmental decision. It defined the corridor where the bypass will be constructed, bypassing the town from the southwest side. The main goals of building the Tuchola bypass are to improve safety and road network capacity, divert transit traffic from the city, and reduce noise.

Currently, work is ongoing to prepare the project with all detailed solutions. It will serve as the basis for applying for a permit to carry out the road investment (ZRID). During construction, the contractor, in close cooperation with the Board of Regional Roads, solved several issues, including conflicts with a gas pipeline partially designed in the same corridor.

The prepared project includes, among others:

  • construction of a new road section
  • construction of intersections
  • reconstruction/construction of pedestrian and bicycle paths
  • construction of bridge structures
  • construction/reconstruction of culverts
  • reconstruction/construction of drainage ditches, stormwater drainage, retention reservoirs, purification devices, and drains
  • reconstruction/construction of road lighting
  • reconstruction of conflicting underground and aboveground utilities
  • landscaping of adjacent green areas
  • construction of structures and devices required by environmental protection (including noise barriers, animal crossings, fences, and isolation greenery).

The preliminary estimated construction cost is PLN 126 million. The regional self-government secured PLN 75 million in funding from the Government Road Development Fund for this purpose.

All detailed solutions included in the project were available for review at the informational meeting in Tuchola, attended by the designer and representatives of Regional Roads Authority and the Road Infrastructure Department of the Marshal’s Office. This is the final stage of work, during which comments on detailed solutions are analyzed. It is preliminarily assumed that the contractor will complete the project in the first half of next year, allowing for the application for a construction permit.

Comments on the bypass route can be submitted until August 12 to the email address zdw.byd@zdw-bydgoszcz.pl.
