We have learned the winners of the fourth edition of the provincial competition ‘Village Fund – Best Initiative’. During the First Village Leaders’ Meeting in Kujawy and Pomerania, the results were announced and the winners were awarded their prizes. The ceremony was attended by Marshal Piotr Całbecki, member of the regional board Marek Wojtkowski and vice-chairman of the regional council Przemysław Sznajdrowski.

‘The affairs of the village and its inhabitants are a priority for our local government. We support local initiatives, help to cultivate traditions and direct the necessary financial resources directly to the villages. We are delighted to see how, thanks to these activities, our Kujawsko-Pomorskie countryside is developing dynamically,’ says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

This year’s edition was won by the village of Rychława (Świecie County), which presented the project ‘The village of Rychława welcomes Kociewie’. The initiative was rated highest by the competition committee and represented the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship in the national final of the competition.

The project stood out thanks to the enormous commitment of residents, entrepreneurs and volunteers. Thanks to joint efforts, bus stops in the village were renovated, not only gaining a new look, but also becoming a showcase for Rychława – decorated with regional motifs and floral decorations.

Second place went to the village of Jankowice (Grudziądz County) for the project ‘Sleeping on Hay’, and third place went to the village of Matyldzin (Nakło County) for the initiative ‘From Biesiekierz to Matyldzin’. The total prize pool in the competition amounted to PLN 12,000.

We congratulate all the winners and thank them for their creativity and commitment to the life of local communities. We look forward to seeing more projects, and the call for entries for the fifth edition of the ‘Village Fund – Best Initiative’ competition will start soon.
