The residents of Barcin are waiting for this safe intersection
In the presence of Elżbieta Piniewska, president of the regional parliament, Marek Wojtkowski, member of the regional board, and Michał Pęziak, mayor of Barcin, Przemysław Dąbrowski, director of the Marshal’s Office of Regional Roads, and Adam Kaniewski, president of Kada-Bis, a Bydgoszcz-based company representing the contractor, signed a contract today (18 June) an agreement for the construction of a new roundabout in Barcin in the Żnin County (along provincial road No. 254).
‘The modernisation of this dangerous intersection, which is often congested and has a “broken” right of way, solves a significant traffic problem in the city. It is an investment in safety, which is crucial for us, and in traffic flow,’ emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
A four-lane roundabout will be built at the current intersection of Pakoska, 4 Stycznia, Polna and Mogileńska streets in Barcin, with traffic lanes separated by islands with pedestrian crossings and bicycle crossings. The roundabout will be designed to accommodate large vehicles.
The project is financed under our regional programme European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie (EFKP). The value of the Kady-Bis contract is PLN 7.4 million. The company has six months to complete the project.
The regional road modernisation programme in the segment concerning the elimination of dangerous spots comprises 23 tasks. Two of them, in Sępólno Krajeńskie and Bysław, have already been completed. Construction work is currently underway at the roundabout in Golub-Dobrzyń, and we have already signed contracts with contractors for the construction of roundabouts in Dyblin in the Lipno district and in Broniewice in the Inowrocław district.
Renovations, reconstructions, new pavements
The modernisation of road 254 connecting Mogilno with Barcin is being carried out comprehensively. A tender is currently underway for the renovation of the road surface from Sucharzewo to Wiecanowo (4 kilometres). We will spend PLN 5 million from the provincial budget on this task. We have already completed the modernisation and renovation of the Brzoza-Łabiszyn-Barcin, Barcin-Szczepankowo, Mogilno-Wiecanowo and Żabno-Wylatowo sections. The second stage of the construction of the Mogilno bypass is underway.
In Barcin, we have commissioned the construction of a pavement on the northern side of Pakoska Street. The scope of the task also includes the construction of access roads to properties and exits, the construction of a storm water drainage system and the reconstruction of street lighting. The works will take 4 months. We are carrying out the task in cooperation with the local government of the Barcin municipality, which is also preparing for the construction of the Barcin-Wolice pedestrian and bicycle route.
Record spending
We are allocating over PLN 2 billion to the provincial road modernisation programme for the coming years. Under the FEdKP 2021-2027, we are allocating EUR 136 million to road investments, including our regional ring road construction programme.
