The Brodnicki Landscape Park is 40 years old | Województwo Kujawsko-Pomorskie

The Brodnicki Landscape Park is celebrating its 40th anniversary. To mark the occasion, a jubilee conference will be held on 12 and 13 June, introducing participants to the history and natural values of this landscape park. The substantive part of the conference (12 June) will be attended by the Vice-Marshal of the Region, Aneta Jędrzejewska.

‘The natural wealth of Brodnicki Landscape Park attracts many tourists to this area every year. Its grounds are particularly popular with lovers of active recreation, who can spend their time there kayaking or hiking or cycling on numerous trails. It is also a great place for interesting educational activities,’ emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The jubilee conference celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Brodnicki Landscape Park will be held in Czystychbłoty in the municipality of Pokrzydowo. In addition to the substantive part, participants will also take part in a walk with an educator along the Bobrowiska educational trail. On the second day of the conference, there will be a canoeing trip down the Drwęca River.

The Brodnicki Landscape Park was established in 1985. It covers an area of over 17,000 hectares and is located in two regions: Kujawsko-Pomorskie (12,349 ha) and Warmińsko-Mazurskie (4,336 ha) and in six municipalities: Zbiczno, Jabłonowo Pomorskie, Brodnica, Brzozie, Biskupiec Pomorski and Kurzętnik. It is located in the central, most valuable in terms of nature and culture part of the Brodnica Lake District. Its entire area is part of the ‘Green Lungs of Poland’. There are over 40 lakes and 8 nature reserves within the park. Many rare species of plants and animals live in the park.

The park’s headquarters are located in Grzmięca (Brodnica County) on Lake Strażym. Adjacent to it are an educational garden and a meteorological station. Together with the educational hall added to the park’s headquarters (investment cost: PLN 402,000, of which over PLN 270,000 came from the ROP for 2007-2013), they constitute the park’s educational facilities. During the year, it is used by nearly 4,000 visitors, mainly school and kindergarten pupils as part of educational activities and ‘green schools’. Environmental education takes place at the ‘Miętowy Gaj’ Environmental Education Centre in Gaj (Brodnica County). In addition to the teaching facilities (a classroom and a nature museum), the centre also has a biodiversity garden. Visitors also have access to a multi-purpose grass pitch and a bonfire area. Brodnicki Landscape Park in numbers:

over 60 per cent of the park is covered by forests,
there are over 40 lakes within the park,
there are nearly 950 species of vascular plants in the park, many of which are under total or partial protection,
the most valuable areas of the park are protected by 8 nature reserves, rare and protected species can be found here: white-tailed eagle, lesser spotted eagle, black stork, bittern, several species of grebes, crane, as well as otter and European beaver,
the trees there are natural monuments, some of which are several hundred years old (oaks, beeches, pines, lindens).
