Astro-Picnic for Students and Family AstroFestival as Part of the Regional Festival

Science through fun, hands-on experiments, a mobile planetarium, and telescope-based sky observations – all part of the Regional Festival celebrations featuring the Astrobaza Toruń science picnic and this year’s family-friendly AstroFestival in Grudziądz.

“I warmly invite both young and older residents of Kujawsko-Pomorskie to join in the celebrations! For years, we’ve combined the attractions of the Regional Festival with the region’s rich astronomical traditions, and the Astro-picnics have become an essential part of that. I wish everyone a fantastic time!” – Marshal Piotr Całbecki

A science picnic at Wola Zamkowa in Toruń will bring together over six hundred students from 20 schools on June 11 (registration took place in May and is now closed). The children will have access to activities involving a radio telescope, sky observations, astronomy shows, the mobile planetarium “Sirius,” and educational workshops. The event will also feature exciting rocket workshops, explorations of the Moon’s secrets, crater-making, and the creation of Martian ice. During the picnic, we will commemorate Professor Wilhelmina Iwanowska, a distinguished astronomer and co-founder of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, on the 120th anniversary of her birth.

We invite entire families to the Astrofestival at Marina Grudziądz on June 14. This event has long been a part of the Regional Holiday celebrations and is held each year in a different presidential city. The theme of the picnic is Space: cosmic inflatables, a “live” Copernicus, telescope demonstrations, Star Wars attractions, space experiments, and even space-themed dishes prepared by Mateusz Gessler for young astronauts. Admission is free, and the event starts at 3:00 PM. Join us!

The next science picnic is planned for September, and we will be sharing information about registration soon.
