The European Corps of Councillors, which was established two years ago on the initiative of Marshal Piotr Całbecki based on a similar solution in French Normandy, is the only such body in Poland. This further initiative within the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship Local Government Forum is a platform for cooperation, exchange of experience and promotion of good practice in the field of local and regional development, with particular emphasis on EU development support. All delegates were nominated by the councils of municipalities, cities and districts from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship.

Tuesday’s ECC working meeting was the first of four planned for this year. Councillors at the meeting received information on European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Local Action Groups and the government’s Power of Small Communities programme. They also took part in workshops on identifying the needs of local communities and building and developing international partnerships.
