Another important road investment has been completed. Drivers are now benefiting from a modernised section of provincial road 251 Młodocin-Pturek and a repaired bridge over the Notec River. The opening ceremony was attended by the president of the regional parliament, Elżbieta Piniewska, Żnin starost Zbigniew Jaszczuk and Żnin mayor Łukasz Kwiatkowski. The investment, worth more than 10 million PLN, was financed from the budget of the regional government.

– Voivodeship road No. 251 is one of the routes with the highest traffic volume in the region,” emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki. – In recent years, it has been modernised almost entirely, using funds from our regional programmes of previous perspectives. Later this year we will begin further tasks related to the illumination of pedestrian crossings and the reconstruction of sensitive junctions, including in Barcin at the junction of provincial road 254 with local streets.

The scope of the investment included the reinforcement of the road structure, the reconstruction of shoulders, the demolition and construction of a new culvert, and the renovation of a section of the road and bridge over the Notec River, which received a new surface, railings and noise barriers to protect protected bird species on the migration route along the river. Existing exits were also rebuilt. The entire route received new vertical and horizontal signage. During the course of the investment, we also commissioned a number of additional works related to, among other things, additional reinforcement of the subsoil, changes to the carriageway structure, repairs to paving elements at the old bridge over the Noteć River and the construction of new transition slabs on the approaches in front of the bridge.

A consortium of Polbud-Pomorze of Łącko (Inowrocław district) and PRD Inodrog of Inowrocław was responsible for the work.

Further investments incoming

This year in the Żnin district on provincial road no. 251, we are also planning to illuminate further pedestrian crossings in Barcin, Krotoszyn, Wapienno and Piechcin.

A tender is under way for the construction of a new roundabout in Barcin at the junction of Pakoska and Mogileńska streets (provincial road no. 254). The investment will be realised on the basis of European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze for the years 2021-27. They will also help to improve safety at the junction of Dworcowa Street and A. Mickiewicza Street in Żnin. We plan to install traffic lights at the intersection of provincial road No. 251 and the former national road.

Record expenditure on roads

We are allocating PLN 2 billion for the voivodeship road modernisation programme for the coming years. As part of the European Funds for Kuyavia and Pomerania 2021-2027 (FEdKP 2021-2027), our regional programme of the new perspective, we are allocating EUR 136 million for road investments, including our regional programme for the construction of bypasses. We will also use the central funding we have acquired for some of the tasks related to the expansion of road infrastructure (around PLN 170 million for bypasses and around PLN 450 million for the expansion of other roads). At present, investments and repairs worth nearly half a billion PLN are being carried out on voivodeship roads.
