Topping out on the fourth circle of Opera Nova!

It is not only music lovers who rejoice at this news. Construction work on the new segment of the Opera Nova complex under construction in Bydgoszcz has been completed and a traditional topping-out ceremony was held today at Marszałka Focha 5. The ceremony was attended by Marshal Piotr Całbecki and Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski, as well as representatives of the music community, government administration and city authorities.

Bold investments in the field of culture are possible thanks to prosperity and economical management of financial resources,’ emphasises Marshall Piotr Całbecki. – With the current extension of the opera house, we are finalising a project that our predecessors started 50 years ago. In this way, we are supplementing the already largest cultural complex in the region with a multifunctional chamber music hall, congress spaces and an underground car park. Culture and its creators have always needed generous patrons; that was once the case, and it is still the case today. Our opera house is excellent, as is the philharmonic hall, the expansion of which will start later this year.

The new four-storey wing with a usable area of 6,000 square metres and a volume of 40,000 cubic metres will house, in addition to an opera chamber hall (with an orchestra pit for a seventy-member ensemble and an auditorium for 500 people), exhibition space and a cinema hall, and a viewing terrace on the Brda side is planned. A two-level underground car park will have 200 parking spaces. The value of the investment is PLN 170 million.

The contractor for the construction work is Budimex. Contractor teams are already starting installation work inside the facility, while tenders are also being announced for stage mechanics and electro-acoustic equipment, stage lighting technology and the supply and installation of stands and seats.
