Funds for Medical Internships
A total of 29 million PLN from a government earmarked grant will be allocated for the salaries of doctors and dentists undergoing postgraduate internships in our province. The agreement was signed today by Marshal Piotr Całbecki and Vice-Voivode Piotr Hemmerling.
“We still lack doctors, especially specialists. Investing in medical internships means investing in the health of all of us,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
Currently, 248 individuals are completing their postgraduate internships in our region, including 222 doctors and 26 dentists. They are working in 27 institutions, including hospitals as well as individual and group specialist medical practices. Annually, 400–420 individuals undertake internships in our region.
In previous years, the postgraduate internship program was funded as follows:
- 2023: 456 interns, 31.5 million PLN
- 2024: 444 interns, 29 million PLN
A postgraduate internship lasts 13 months for doctors and 12 months for dentists. Those who began in 2024 will continue their training into 2025. The next recruitment for interns will take place in October.
