Inowrocław, “Apache” helicopter base
The most modern American ‘Apache’ attack helicopters will be delivered to the 56th Air Base in Inowrocław. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on Thursday (27 February) at the base signed a package of contracts for the leasing of eight machines, which will be used to train pilots and technical personnel. Regional board member Dariusz Kurzawa also took part in the ceremony.
– As part of the process of modernising the army, Polish pilots will sit behind the controls of the most modern attack helicopters in the world. I am proud that these machines, their crews and maintenance personnel will be stationed in our voivodship,’ stressed Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
– The presence of ‘Apache’ helicopters will raise the profile of the 56th Air Base in Inowrocław, which will become an important place in the training and defence system of the country. It is important that the first fifteen machines of the AH-64E version will also go to – added regional government member Dariusz Kurzawa.
As part of the agreements concluded, the United States will transfer eight helicopters of an older version – AH-64D ‘Apache’ – to the Polish Armed Forces, which will go to the 1st Airborne Brigade of the Land Forces. The Inowrocław airbase, located within the brigade’s structures, will be used to train flying, technical and security personnel. Leasing and training will precede the delivery of the most modern version of the helicopter – the AH-64E ‘Apache’. By 2032, 96 such machines will be delivered to Poland.
The ceremony was also attended by parliamentarians, governor Michał Sztybel and chargé d’affaires of the US ambassador Daniel Lawton and representatives of the Boeing company.
