Lots of changes on the Ciechocinek-Radziejów route

Further sections of provincial road 266 linking Kujawy with the A1 motorway upgraded. Further investments are ahead of us on this route, including the construction of a roundabout in Ośno, the construction of pedestrian and cycle paths in Radziejów and the planting of trees between Ciechocinek and Sędzin.

We are maintaining a very good pace of road modernisation in our region,’ stresses Marshal Piotr Całbecki. – The safety of all road users is a priority, which is why we are not only modernising roads, but also building cycle paths, rebuilding sensitive junctions into roundabouts and implementing a programme of retrofitting provincial routes with illuminated pedestrian crossings.

Regional road no. 266 runs from Ciechocinek through Aleksandrów Kujawski, Radziejów and Piotrków Kujawski towards Konin. At the end of the year, work was completed on an over 5-kilometre section between Radziejów and Dobre, and a 3-kilometre section between the Odolion motorway junction and the railway crossing in Aleksandrów Kujawski was also modernised. In addition to laying a new road surface, the contractor reinforced the shoulders, repaired culverts, laid the pavement surface from concrete blocks, reconstructed drainage ditches and replaced hectometre posts. The Inodrog company from Inowrocław was responsible for the work on both sections. In total, the regional government spent nearly PLN 17 million on both investments.

In recent years on this route:

  • among others, we renovated the sections Piotrków Kujawski – Radziejów (7 km), Zakrzewo – Straszewo (4 km), Aleksandrów Kujawski – Przybranowo (5 km)
  • a new roundabout was built in Sędzin
  • we renovated several shorter sections running through Piotrków Kujawski, Czołowo, Aleksandrów Kujawski and Służewo.

New road surface and roundabout

This year, the regional government secured funds in the budget for, among other things, the reconstruction of a 2.5-kilometre section between Piotrków Kujawski and Wójcin in the Radziejów district. In Zakrzewo, pedestrian crossings on DW no. 252 (Inowrocław – Włocławek) at junctions with provincial road no. 266 will be illuminated.

Final work is being carried out on the design documentation for a new roundabout in Ośno at the junction of the voivodeship road and the district road to Nieszawa. We will have the design and necessary permits this year, which will then allow us to commission the construction work. We will finance the task using the European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie 2021-27 (EFKP 2021-2027).

Green avenue

We will also use European funds to care for the growing trees and restore the plantings in the form of an avenue. We are currently preparing the documentation. In the first instance, we want to carry out a large amount of agro-technical work and plantings between Ciechocinek and Sędzin in the Aleksandrów district.

Cycling through Radziejów

EU funds at the disposal of the regional government are being consistently transferred to local authorities for cycling infrastructure. In November, a contract was signed to co-finance with FEdKP 2021-2027 funds the construction of a pedestrian and cycle path along Szybka Street in Radziejów. The new route will be approximately 1.4 km long. The municipality has already signed a contract with the contractor for the works. In previous years, cycle paths were constructed, among others, in the sections Ciechocinek – Aleksandrów Kujawski, Zakrzewo – Straszewo and in Dobre.

Record expenditure on roads

A total of PLN 2 billion will be spent on the provincial road modernisation programme for the coming years. Within the framework of the European Funds for Kuyavia and Pomerania 2021-2027, €136 million will be allocated to road investments, including, among others, our regional programme for the construction of bypasses. For some of the tasks related to the expansion of road infrastructure, we will also use the central funding we have obtained (around PLN 170 million for bypasses and around PLN 450 million for the expansion of other roads).

Currently, the most important road investments carried out on voivodeship roads include

  • modernisation of voivodeship road no. 268 from Brzezie to Brześć Kujawskie in the poviat of Włocławek
  • modernisation of voivodeship road no. 563 Rypin – voivodeship border in Rypin poviat
  • construction of a bypass road in Mogilno within provincial road no. 254 in the county of Mogilno
