2024 Summary: A Record Year for Regional Roads

In 2024, we opened 110 kilometers of modernized roads to traffic. Among the largest completed projects were the modernization of regional road No. 254, connecting Brzoza near Bydgoszcz with Łabiszyn and Barcin in Żnin County, as well as the new Lubraniec Bypass, along with the reconstructed regional road No. 270 linking it to Brześć Kujawski in Włocławek County. Several projects are currently underway, and more—including the construction of additional bypasses—are in preparation.

We are maintaining an excellent pace of road modernization in our region, emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki. – Our priority is the safety of all road users, which is why we not only modernize roads and build bicycle paths but also implement a program to equip regional routes with illuminated pedestrian crossings and bus stops. We are also continuing our bypass construction program—last year, we completed the Lubraniec investment and started building the missing section of the Mogilno bypass.

  • Expansion of regional road No. 254 Brzoza-Łabiszyn-Barcin (Bydgoszcz and Żnin Counties, 22 km, total cost PLN 106 million, including a bicycle path between Brzoza and Nowe Smolno, two roundabouts, and over 300 trees planted along the route)

Prioritizing Safety

Last year, we launched two major marshal programs focused on improving road safety. We began reconstructing dangerous intersections, resulting in a new roundabout in Sępólno Krajeńskie on a regional road and a traffic light installation in Bysław on regional road No. 240 (Tuchola County). Further projects are currently in the tendering or design phase.

Additionally, we commissioned design and construction work for the illumination of 249 pedestrian crossings and 27 bus stops.

In the spring, a newly built overpass over the railway line intersecting regional road No. 240 (Tuchola-Świecie) in Terespol Pomorski was opened to traffic.

Record Investments in Roads

A total of PLN 2 billion has been allocated to the regional road modernization program for the coming years. Under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 (FEdKP 2021-2027), our regional development program, EUR 136 million is earmarked for road investments, including the regional bypass construction program. Additional funding sources include central co-financing of approximately PLN 170 million for bypasses and PLN 450 million for other road expansions.

Ongoing Key Regional Road Investments:
