Night Sky Observations at the Astrobases | Województwo Kujawsko-Pomorskie

Clear, warm August nights provide ideal conditions for observing the Perseid meteor shower. Throughout the month, our Copernicus Astrobases are open to astronomy enthusiasts and everyone eager to explore the mysteries of the universe.

On 31 July, visitors to the Astrobaza in Świecie, as part of the “Observing the Perseids at the Astrobases” series, enjoyed telescope observations and meetings with Astrobaza coordinators. The programme also included educational workshops for children and adults, popular science lectures, and a variety of activities introducing participants to the fascinating world of astronomy.

For many years, the regional self-government has consistently supported the development of the Copernicus Astrobaza Network, financing the modernisation and equipment of the observatories as well as the educational programmes they deliver. The facilities are equipped with modern observational instruments, teacher training courses are organised, astronomy picnics are held, and a wide range of science outreach activities are offered.

The Marshal’s Kujawsko-Pomorskie Academy of Innovation currently also finances the work of Astrobaza coordinators, who conduct educational activities for primary and secondary school students as well as all other interested participants.

The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Astrobaza Network has been operating for fifteen years as the result of a project co-financed by the European Union under the Regional Operational Programme for the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region 2007–2013.

Most recently, Marshal Piotr Całbecki visited the Copernicus Astrobaza in Gostycyn, one of the facilities where astronomy and the natural sciences are successfully promoted among the region’s residents.
